Name: Joseph Rascoe Dates: Birth date: September 10, 1944 Death date: July 07, 2012 Obituary: Joseph Rascoe was born in Lewiston, NC to the late Benjamin and Alfreda Rooks Rascoe on September 10, 1944. As a child, he enjoyed, whittling, arts and crafts, and his lifelong love of hunting and fishing. He was baptized in Spring Hill Baptist Church in NC. He attended the North Carolina school system and then he moved to Bridgeport, CT at the age of nineteen. He attended Bullard-Haven Tech for welding; worked for the Goodwill, Bridgeport Brass; and he worked as a roofer at two roofing companies before retiring from the State of CT in 2009.
Joseph loved traveling, helping people, and telling his family history. Joseph and his hunting buddies would travel difference places just to hunt and fish. He loved cooking wild game and telling others how to cook. In the early weeks of his illness, the nurses asked him how to cook various dishes and the nurses formed a cookbook based on his recipes.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sons, Emit Cherry, Kevin Rascoe; two brothers, John and Benjamin Rascoe Jr.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Juliette Blanding–Rascoe of Bridgeport, CT, three sons, Darryl and Joel Rascoe of Bridgeport, CT, and John McAllister of California, three daughters, Arquilla (Floyd) Thompson of Bridgeport, CT, Christine (Joseph) Davis, and Josephine Walton-Jones, of NC, two brothers, Lewis Rascoe of NC, and Monroe Butler, Jr. of Bridgeport, CT, three sisters, Jannie (Earnest) Williams, Molly (Rev. Harry) Hayes of NC and Angela Butler of Bridgeport , CT, one uncle, Joseph Rascoe of NC, one great uncle, Anderson Pugh of NC, twenty-three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends, and a special cousin, Curtis Williams, who Joseph called his brother sent from God.
