Born in Bridgeport, Laura resided in Bridgeport for twenty-five years and various other towns in the state until she finally landed in Branford where she has resided for the past thirty years. She was a photographer with her own company LJ Brooks photography. Laura was a member of Messiah Baptist Church and served on the Education Committee. Survivors include her husband, Keith D. Brooks of Branford; a daughter, Kim L. Brooks - (Jonathan) Howard of Hamden; five sisters, Diane and Mildred Graham of Bridgeport, Tracy Graham of Waterbury, Jill Graham of NC and Leslie Jenkins of NJ; three grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Born in Lincolnton, GA, Robbie has been a resident of Bridgeport for nearly fifty-two years. She was a home health aide and a former member of English Chapel Cathedral of Mircacles. Her son Terrence Wideman predeceased her. Survivors include her husband, Samuel Dear of Bridgeport; two sons, John F. Wideman of Bridgeport and Faheen L. Wideman of SC; two daughters, Catisha Collier of SC and Laykenya Dear of AL; her parents, Robert Dooley of SD and Dorothy Calhoun Wideman Wilson of Bridgeport; a brother, John F. Wideman of Bridgeport; three sisters, Lizzie Mason of Bridgeport, Belinda Wideman and Audrey Williams of SC; seven grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Born in Bridgeport, Lisa was a life-long resident and graduated from Warren Harding High School and remained to become the office supervisor for Wilton Medical Associates. She was a member of the East End Baptist Tabernacle Church. Survivors include two sons, Chris and Lamont Johnson of NC; a daughter, Keisha (LaVaughne) Scales of Bridgeport; a brother, Alex Turner of Stratford; sister, Gloria Schoolfield of Bridgeport; eleven grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2013, 8:00 pm at East End Baptist Tabernacle Church, 548 Central Ave., Bridgeport with Rev. Dr. C.L. Stallworth, Pastor, officiating. Born in Bridgeport, Tiarra has resided here all of her life. She was a 5th grade student on the National Honor Society at St. James School in Stratford. Tiarra was a member of Russell Temple C.M.E. Church where she participated in the Children's Choir, the Jr. Usher Board, the Praise Team and Sunday School. She was also a dancer at the Connecticut Dance Conservatory in Stratford where she recently won 1st place in a dance competition in lyrical dance for her age group. Survivors include her parents Bernard and TJuana Bradley Webb of Bridgeport; two brothers, Bernard Webb, Jr. of CO and Sheridan Webb; two sisters, Savonna and Bernae Webb; maternal grandparents, James Lloyd and Mary Elizabeth James; a nephew, Bryce Webb all of Bridgeport and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Born in Greenwood, SC, Sallie moved to Bridgeport in 1942 and immediately joined Mt. Aery Baptist Church. She participated in the Willing Workers of the church. Sallie was a retired employee of General Electric with thirty-two years of service; she was also a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the GE Senior Club and a participant in the Ella Jackson Sr. Citizen Center. Her husband Shepard Gordon, a daughter, Ola Mae Williams, eleven brothers and a sister predeceased her. Survivors include a daughter, Betty (John) Hill of Trumbull; two grandsons, Anthony (Valerie) Brown of MA and John (Karin) Hill, Jr. of NY; two granddaughters, Renata Edwards of Bridgeport and Lisa (Leo) Hill-Hodges of New Haven; four great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

]]> Deacon Alexander Lewis [02/15/1931 - 05/09/2013] Alexander Lewis, age 82 of Stratford entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 9, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. James, Jamaica, West Indies, Alexander has been a resident of Stratford for the past nineteen years; prior to that he was a resident of Bridgeport for fifteen years. He was a retiree from Voltarc Tubes Technologies with twenty-one years of service. Alexander was one of the oldest members in terms of years of membership at the Cathedral of Faith Church of God where he served as a Deacon, member of the Pastor's Council and Board of Trustees. Survivors include his wife, Nona Grey Lewis of Stratford; three sons, Richard (Angela) and Lascelles (Faith) of FL and Wayne of Stratford; four daughters, Cynthia and Sandra of GA and Edris (Glen) of Ansonia and Yvonne of Shelton; a brother Washington of Jamaica, and two sisters Millicent of NY and Eugiene of Jamaica; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Born in Kinston, Jamaica, West Indies, Deacon Kirton resided in Stratford for the past ten years and prior to that she resided in Bridgeport fourteen years. She was last employed as a teacher's aide at Dunbar Elementary School, Bridgeport and was a disciple of the First Baptist Church of Stratford where she served on the Diaconate Ministry and she was a participant in the foster grandparent program through the Board of Education. Survivors include three sons, Maurice Miller, and Everton (Aldene) Kirton of Bridgeport and Milton (Vickey) Kirton of Stratford; a daughter, Rosemary Miller of VA; two brothers, Harold Flash of England and Robert Solomon of NJ; a sister, Avis Bennett of MO; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; several nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Survivors include a son, Edward (Dolores) Cox and a daughter, Sylvia Boone of Bridgeport; a sister-in-law, Doretha Cox of VA; seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
